We encourage operators to self-manage their listings. Sometimes an operator will request that the Travel Alberta Contact Centres make edits on their behalf.
When a request is received to update a notable element of an ATIS listing or organization profile, such as:
  • Website link
    • In the case of request to point to different websites (e.g. not a sub-page that directly references the listing experience) please contact the operator directly via phonecall.
    • This will mitigate risk in the case of a hack.
  • Key description points
  • Categories or Type
  • Physical address

Support agents must verify the authority of the requester before proceeding.

Verification Steps:

Check the Requester's Email Address
  • Compare the requester's email address against the list of registered ATIS users associated with the organization in question.
If the Email Matches:
  • Proceed with the requested change following standard update procedures.
If the Email Does Not Match:
Inform the requester
  • Explain that updates to key profile elements must be submitted or approved by a verified ATIS user.
  • Ask the requester to identify a member of their organization who can verify the change.
Follow up with the identified contact
  • Reach out via phone or email to confirm the request with the named individual.
  • Offer to connect the requester with their organization’s ATIS administrator.
Provide onboarding guidance
  • If appropriate, share instructions on how to become a verified ATIS user.
    • Encourage self-management for suitable operator staff
If no verified contact can be identified
  • Reach out to the organization directly to make them aware of the request.
  • Await direction from a verified organization operator before proceeding.

If fraud is suspected
  • Escalate the situation to:
    • Craig Cameron – Travel Alberta Product Team Member
    • Christopher Smith – Destination Development Manager / Product Owner

Why This Matters:
This process ensures data integrity and protects organizations from unauthorized or accidental changes to their public-facing information.
