The following script and accompanying guidance applies to when ATIS Listings/Events/Articles are published on TA.com and cannot be found when using the search function on the website.
The search functionality on travelalberta.com is powered by Google. If your content was recently created, it may be that Google has yet to index your content and will therefore not appear in the search results. This process can sometimes take days, weeks or months as this is initiated by Google and not Travel Alberta.
For listings that have been in ATIS for a long period of time we are aware of an issue that occasionally, when searching for a business name on our site, it does not return the correct results. We are investigating ways of improving our search function, but we do not have an anticipated timeframe for a resolution at this time.
Please be aware that once your listing has been approved, it will almost immediately publish to the website under the relevant sections (such as Things to Do, Places to Go, etc.). To note, 80% of the terms searched on travelalberta.com are either locations or general activities and not individual businesses. Most people who are searching for individual business names do so through a Google search and not on travelalberta.com.
Team Guidance:
1. a) When submitting this response, it is usually best practice to send them a link of where their content resides on our website. This can easily be done by using the root: https://www.travelalberta.com/ca/contenttype/link-name-contentID (example:https://www.travelalberta.com/ca/listings/horizon-motel-4836/)
b) When appropriate, please also send the steps/clicks to the section where their content resides. For instance, if this is an event in Grande Prairie, please link to: https://www.travelalberta.com/ca/places-to-go/northern-alberta/grande-prairie/events/
2. If a partner is not satisfied that it may take a few weeks or a few months for their content to index properly, please apologize and re-iterate that search functionality on our website is powered by Google, which considers a handful of factors that we cannot override.
